About the Author

Peter Murano is a baby boomer, and in addition to being a huge fan of the Superman t.v. show, he enjoys listening to classical music, riding his bike for exercise, and improving his spiritual nature through Bible study and outreach-related activities.

Currently, Peter is a professor at Texas A&M University.  He has only one other book to his credit, Understanding Food Science and Technology, which is a college textbook.

In 2001 and through 2004, he was employed by the Federal government with the United States Department of Agriculture. There, Peter shared his interest in George Reeves and the series with quite a number of USDA colleagues!

Here are Peter's comments about why he wrote The George Reeves Adventures of Superman Companion:

Like so many who grew up during the 1950s and 1960s, as a child I was completely captivated by television. It was like having a small movie theater in the privacy of your own home. When my parents were not watching the news or perhaps a game show or sporting event, I was eagerly awaiting my favorite TV show: "The Adventures of Superman" starring George Reeves.

This is the one show that I enjoyed the most. The comics had Superman, and TV had Superman, and I just could not get enough. There was something wonderful about the characters - Superman, Clark Kent, Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, Perry White, and Inspector Henderson - that made me feel like they could be real people and would be my friends if I ever met them. And as a youngster, I would imagine just that very thing.

After the passing of many years, I had the desire to view the shows in the Superman TV series back-to-back: all 104 episodes. This I did, and as I watched, I was returned to the days of my youth, and found myself enjoying the show all over again. I enjoyed it in fact so much, that I started writing things down. Lines that made me laugh, situations that made me smile, and so forth. It all evolved into a sketch for a book manuscript, and in 2002 I began writing the first draft. It took me over three years (late nights, after work, and weekends!) to complete the text, and to design the features, collect the photos and illustrations, etc., and as a result, my passion for this television show has been translated into the first color tribute book of its kind:

The George Reeves Adventures of Superman Companion.
